  95.       A few weeks ago, someone requested a list of FTP sites with Atari
  96.  files.
  97.       This is my list of sites accepting anonymous ftp (user name = anonymous,
  98.  password = <your login name>) and which include Atari files.
  99.       The complete FTP list is posted to comp.misc and comp.sources.wanted
  100.  on  Usenet  and is  available  for  anonymous  FTP  from  ssyx.ucsc.edu.

  155. About a week after I received the 1/2 off coupon for pc-ditto II,
  156. I sent it in, and I still haven't (MANY MONTHS later) received it yet!
  157.  
  158. Well, I needed it for last semester, and don't anymore.
  159. It was read that they are changing the software to yield a 4.0 Norton
  160. rating to make it more competitive with the other emulators.  But now
  161. it doesn't matter to me, and I want money for it!
  162.  
  163. I was  wondering if it made sense for me to sell someone my place in
  164. line for it.  Cause if someone out there wanted it, not only will they
  165. be placed at the end of the line, but they will have to pay the
  166. FULL $300 price...

  200. I HAVE THREE PROBLEMS.  FIRSTLY, I HAVE WORDUP BUT HAVE NO PRINTER DRIVER FOR
  201. GDOS FOR MY PRINTER, AN OKIMATE 20.  I CAN USE A EIGHT PIN DRIVER BUT IT
  202. PRINTS OVER TWICE TO MAKE THE GRAPHICS.  THE TEXT LOOKS BAD, BLOTCHY FOR SOME
  203. REASON AND PLUS THE RIBBON FOR MY PRINTER IS EXPENSIVE FOR AS LITTLE TEXT I
  204. CAN PRINT ON IT.  IS THERE A GDOS DRIVER FOR MY PRINTER?  I'D GET A NEW
  205. PRINTER IF I COULD AFFORD IT.

  207. SECONDLY, I RESENTLY ATTEMPTED TO UPGRADE MY COMPUTER TO 1 MEG.  IT FAILED.
  208. I'VE CHECKED ALL THE CONNECTIONS AND THEY SEEM FINE.  I WAS WONDERING IF THERE
  209. WERE A WAY TO CHECK THE RAM CHIPS IN CIRCUIT.  I'VE PIGGY BACKED THE CHIPS ON
  210. MY 520 ST WITHOUT SOCKETS (VERY SILLY).  I'D BE VERY HAPPY IF I WOULDN'T HAVE
  211. TO UNSOLDER THEM.  WILL BAD RAM REGESTER OR JUST APPEAR NOT TO BE THERE?
  212. I HAVE GOOD REASON TO BELIEVE SOME OF THE CHIPS MAY BE BAD; THEY WERE SHIPPED IN
  213. A BOX FULL OF STYROFOAM.  ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

  216. TO MY SCHOOL'S VAX.  THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL (I THINK) BUT THE COMPUTER TAKES A
  217. [BREAK] TO LOGON.  I HOOKED UP MY ROOMMATE'S IBM PC FINE AND IT WORKS BUT I
  218. DON'T HAVE A BREAK KEY!  WHAT KEY COULD I PRESS TO BE EQUVALENT TO THE [BREAK]
  219. ON A PC?  I'VE TRIED THE LONG AND SHORT BREAKS ON UNITERM BUT THEY DID NOT WORK.

  231. Without entering a slagging off session I must agree with what has been
  232. said about the british publication "ST Format" It has recently reviewed two
  233. ST progs with which I am reasonably familiar "Fleet St Publisher 3.0" and
  234. "Music DTP" by Take Control. Neither of these reviews were very complimentary
  235. and this would be O.K. if they deserved it however they do not. I must add
  236. at this point that I am not just jumping to the defence of my favourite progs,
  237. as I feel a great injustice has been done. It seems as if the reviewers spent
  238. 10 minuites with the programs not the days they deserve. In fact in the case of
  239. "Music DTP" they clearly did not understand the concept of the program and
  240. compared it with totally dissimilar ones.
  241. Thus to those at the other side of the pond I request that if you judge
  242. British magazines by any one single publication then let it be ST World. This
  243. is a fine (but not totally flawless mag) but in comparison with the other
  244. "comics" it is unbeatable.

  246. p.s. dont bother buying it for games coverage though as there isn't any!
  247.  
  248. This can never be any more than a personal opinion but it is one I hold
  249. with the deepest of conviction.
